Notable State Legislation
In February 2010, Iowa filed House Study Bill 687 and Senate Study Bill 3191 (which are identical) which would amend the Charitable Solicitations Act to require charitable organizations to register with the Attorney General prior to soliciting contributions or participating in charitable sales promotions in the state.

The conference, which took place in Zurich, Switzerland and was sponsored by the Mind and Life Institute brought together world renowned economists, psychologists, spiritual leaders (including the Dalai Lama), neuroscientists and anthropologists to talk about recent empirical research on empathy, altruism, economic decision making and fairness in current economic systems
