Perlman & Perlman handles a full range of employment-related issues for both non-profit and for-profit entities. The firm counsels companies on compliance with anti-discrimination and other employment statutes, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, The Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, WARN, COBRA, and other laws and regulations. In so doing, the firm represents companies before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, in federal and state court proceedings, and in arbitrations and mediation. Perlman & Perlman also prepares and negotiates employment contracts with corporate executives, as well as severance and separation agreements in connection with company layoffs and terminations. The firm also has a special expertise in the area of nonprofit compensation, assisting charitable organizations in complying with the intermediate sanctions law and regulations, working with compensation specialists to conduct surveys on compensation levels, and providing guidance and opinions on the propriety of compensation and benefits arrangements.
