The law firm of Perlman & Perlman has specialized in working with the philanthropic community since its founding in 1959.
Our expertise in this area began when Bernard Perlman, the firm's founder, established in New York the first state regulatory agency in the United States devoted exclusively to the oversight of charitable activities. Today, these regulatory functions are carried out by the Charities Bureau of the New York State Attorney General's Office.
We have acted as general counsel to a number of long standing and respected charitable organizations. Over the years we have carefully cultivated close professional relationships with state and federal regulators throughout the country. Through mutual respect, cooperation, and, when necessary, the use of litigation, we have been instrumental in ensuring that the best interests of the philanthropic community are served.
Our clientele
consists of diverse groups from both the non-profit and for-profit
sectors both here and abroad. These include religious organizations, health and welfare charities, educational organizations, private foundations, mental hygiene facilities, museums, community foundations, professional fund-raising counselors, professional solicitors, commercial co-venturers and numerous vendors who provide services to the philanthropic sector.
