Clifford Perlman has been advising philanthropic organizations for over 20 years. His clients include large public nonprofit organizations, private foundations, and Fortune 500 companies (pertaining to their philanthropic endeavors with nonprofit organizations). He joined the firm after a clerkship writing judicial opinions for the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court.
Professional & Nonprofit Affiliations
Mr. Perlman is a member of the American Bar Association Exempt Organizations Committee. He also served on the Subcommittee on Disaster Relief Coordination, which was formed to address the distribution of donations for victims of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Mr. Perlman serves on the boards of the American Chai Trust, Gabriel’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, and the Our Time Theatre Company. He is also a board member for two European cancer research organizations: Aidez la Recherche (France) and the VFK Krebsforschung gGmbH (Germany).
Publications & Speaking Engagements
Mr. Perlman has written numerous articles on nonprofit law pertaining to both public charities and private foundations on topics such as fundraising regulations, issues relating to the Internet, and the relationships between for-profit entities and nonprofits.
Mr. Perlman also is a frequent lecturer on issues such as fundraising regulation, electioneering for nonprofits, creating a tax- exempt entity, and cause-related marketing.
